Chute Sizes

Here are some approximate weight estimates for our parachutes:

Hemispherical parachutes:

18in. for rockets up to 1.5lb.

24in for rockets up to 2.5lb.

36in for rockets up to 6lb.

Mushroom parachutes:

18in for rockets under 8oz.

24in for rockets up to 1lb.

36in for rockets up to 2lb.

If you wish to use any of these chutes as a drogue, make sure that you use it in a heavier rocket than what this table recommends.

Note: these are estimates only, actual descent rate may vary with with different rockets due to different drag characteristics. Research and testing is in progress to find out more information about weight limits with different parachutes.
